Practical notes
Nikah, registration and visas.
In Australia, a nikah can also be your legal marriage when it is performed by an authorised marriage celebrant (many imams are registered) and a Notice of Intended Marriage is lodged at least one month before the ceremony. Otherwise, register the marriage separately.
If your spouse lives in Pakistan, they would usually apply for a partner or prospective marriage visa. Check the current process on the Department of Home Affairs and take advice from a registered migration agent.
