What is Mehr Fatimi?
Mehr Fatimi is the mehr traditionally associated with the marriage of Hazrat Fatimah (RA): 500 dirhams of silver, commonly given as about 131.25 tola (around 1.53 kg) of silver. Its value in rupees changes with the silver price.
What is the minimum mehr?
In the Hanafi school the minimum mehr is 10 dirhams of silver, about 2.625 tola (around 30.6 g). Other schools hold different views, so ask a scholar you trust.
Where do the silver and gold rates come from?
We look up current Pakistani market rates per tola (such as the Sarafa association rates) using Google Search and refresh them every few hours. Jewellers’ prices vary by city and day, so treat the result as an estimate.
Is mehr part of the wedding budget?
No. Mehr is the bride’s right, agreed between the families and written in the nikahnama. It is a separate commitment from wedding expenses, and it should be paid in good faith.
