Second marriage

A second marriage rishta, searched with dignity.

For divorced, separated and widowed men and women — and the parents helping them. Be honest about your story, keep your privacy, and meet people who see you, not a label.

Marrying again is a fresh start, not a second best

In many Pakistani families, divorce or the loss of a spouse still carries a weight it shouldn’t. People are told to “compromise” on what they want, or are offered only a rishta that nobody else would consider. Islam encourages marrying again, and many of the happiest marriages are second marriages, built by two people who know exactly what matters to them.

PakSouls is a serious, marriage-first platform where your marital status is part of your profile, not a secret to reveal later. That honesty filters out people who aren’t open to it, so the conversations you do have start in the right place.

Why PakSouls

Built for a respectful second search.

  • Honest from the start

Marital status — never married, divorced, separated or widowed — is shown on every profile, so nobody is surprised later.

  • Verification you can read

Email, phone, live selfie and education checks each have their own badge, so you know who is real before families talk.

  • Privacy you control

Keep photos visible only to verified members or to people you accept. Contact details stay hidden until you approve a request.

  • Family on your terms

Parents or siblings can help manage your profile with your consent, clearly labelled — or you can search on your own.

Your profile

Writing a second-marriage profile.

  • State your marital status plainly, and add one calm sentence if you like — no need for the whole story.
  • If you have children, say so in your about-me, with how many and who they live with. It is the first question most families will ask.
  • Write about the life you want now: your routine, your values, and what a good partnership looks like to you.
  • Be specific about what you’re open to — for example someone who has been married before, or who has children.
  • Avoid criticising your former spouse or their family. It makes readers worry, even when you were not at fault.

Our free biodata maker can help you put this into words, and the rishta questions checklist has questions for families where one or both partners have been married before.

Before you say yes

Questions worth discussing early.

  • Children from either marriage: where they will live, how they will be raised, and the relationship with the other parent.
  • Contact with a former spouse, especially where there are children, and how comfortable both of you are with it.
  • Where you will live, and whether either family expects a joint household.
  • Finances, including any maintenance or support already being paid.
  • How quickly both of you want to move, and how involved each family will be.

Practical notes

Divorce, iddat and registration in Pakistan.

Under the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance, a talaq or khula should be notified to the union council, and it normally takes effect after the reconciliation period has passed. Make sure your divorce is properly registered and that you hold the certificate before you remarry, and that a woman’s iddat period has been completed.

A man who wants to marry again while an earlier marriage continues needs written permission from the arbitration council, which considers the existing wife’s view. Marrying without it can have serious legal consequences. Any new nikah should be registered with the union council and with NADRA.

This is general information, not legal or religious advice. Rules and procedures can change, so speak to a family lawyer or a qualified scholar about your situation.

Can I find a second marriage rishta on PakSouls?

Yes. PakSouls welcomes divorced, separated and widowed members. Your marital status is shown on your profile, and you can search for people who are open to a second marriage — or who have been married before themselves.

Do I have to explain why my first marriage ended?

No. You decide how much to share and when. Most people add a short, calm line to their profile and explain more once a connection is accepted and both families are talking.

Can I mention that I have children?

Yes — mention it in the about-me section of your profile. It saves time for everyone and helps you meet people who are genuinely ready to be part of your children’s lives.

Is PakSouls free for divorced or widowed members?

Yes. Creating a profile, searching and connecting are free for everyone. PakSouls Gold, a personal matchmaker service, is optional.

Can my parents manage my profile?

Yes. A parent or sibling can help with your consent, and everything they do is labelled “on behalf of”.
